Wow. Second day of food blogging over at What Foodie Eats. (pleeeeease come visit me there!) What a trip it’s been! Already I feel a change in how I approach food. Every morsel I eat is photographed BEFORE I eat it. It’s a totally visual (and different) version of Weight Watchers, “If you bite it, write it!” Because often we track (writing) AFTER we eat. In this method, the tracking HAS to happen before the eating. Every time. Which makes a huge difference. It’s making me slow way way down, and become very deliberate and thoughtful about what I eat.
And talk about accountability. Wow. Wow wow! I feel like this truly does take tracking to a whole ‘nother level. It’s one thing to write things down, or “try to” as I often do. It’s another thing to take pictures of all your food. And another thing to put it out on the internet. How about you? Would you be willing to show the world everything you eat?
I’m learning so much.

It definitely does make you think a lot more before you eat. 🙂

Talk about accountability! Wow. I don’t think there is much that could get me to shape up my eating. Hm. I think I might do a self-challenge with this one. Pictures of what I eat every day for a week?
It could improve my photography in a hurry, too. 😉

Jaime, I’m actually doing it as a one-week self challenge as well. I’m going to re-evaluate next week and decide if I want to continue. But so far, so good! I’d say do it and just see how it feels. It’s truly illuminating!

I’m definitely going to do it. Clearing out the memory card on my digi camera is on the to-do list today.

Go Jaime! Looking forward to seeing your eats!

I’ll be interested to see if there ever comes a moment when you set out some food to eat, photograph it, and then decide that you shouldn’t and won’t actually consume it!

I’ve thought about that. I actually didn’t finish all the breakfast I photographed this morning. Which I will duly note when I blog it!

This is a great idea. I’m aiming to do this on Sunday. The ultimate in tracking and a great way to stay on track.

I like the idea of photographing it, but not blogging it… Simply because I wouldn’t like to have a blog especially for it. I may have a static page on my blog with a slide-show of the day’s meals. But first, I need a camera that will take good food pictures. It’s something I’m going to think a lot more about in the months to come and then maybe I might buy the camera. It will certainly force me to present my food nicely – something I’m not really doing.
Then again, I just realized that I will probably eat very much the same food every day once I start working… Or maybe photographing my food will force me to be more creative?
So much to ponder…

I’ve tried it and it’s real tough. But it certainly helps, I made better choices when I was taking photos of my food and I also spent more time with preparing my food which helped too.
