I’ve been struggling with food, body, love, hate, disgust, ecstasy, for as long as I can remember.

In January of 2009, I experienced a wake-up call (which prompted the beginning of this blog)  in which I came very close (and maybe fell into) a diagnosis of diabetes. I will be turning 50 this year and this is one thing I do NOT want for my birthday. For the first time in my life I feel truly motivated to exercise and lose weight. This blog is about my journey along the way. I appreciate all the company and conversation you can offer.

UPDATE: I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on April 1, 2009. The journey continues.

UPDATE: As of December 2009, I managed to lose 33 lbs, run my first, second and third 5k races, join the staff of Weight Watchers first as a receptionist then a leader, and it goes on. I turned fifty the healthiest I have ever been. I’m feeling great, and so much of it has to do with the support and encouragement I received via this blog. The journey continues, indeed.

UPDATE: January 2011! I’m two years in now. I completed my first half marathon in December (viva Las Vegas!). Onward!
